Journey To Germany

Hi everyone!

This is just a quick update to explain what’s going on in my life. This coming Tuesday, September 13th, I’ll be getting on a plane for an almost ten-hour flight from Seattle to Germany.

I’ll be visiting my parents from September 14th – December 6th.

It’s going to be exciting and I’ll also get to see my cats, as well as the dog they got after I moved back to the US. I’ll definitely be blogging while I’m in Germany. I’ll likely also take a trip to the Netherlands and possibly England while I’m there.

This week so far has been full of meeting up with friends and family before I disappear for almost three months. More meeting up will happen in the next few days, alongside finishing up packing my suitcase and bags. Fun, but busy times!

This trip will be a good chance for me to catch up on my writing. I need to finish writing my book, Vanquished Virtue, before November hits so I can start writing the sequel during National Novel Writing Month!

Look forward to upcoming blog posts. If I don’t pass out when I land on September 14th (at 8:40 in the morning!), then I’ll try to blog that day. We’ll see how it goes!

Where’s somewhere you’d like to travel to?

A New Year – 2016

Happy New Year!

I hope that everyone transitioned from 2015 into 2016 safely with their friends and family. Me? I was in bed at 10 PM since I had to be up by 5 AM and at work by 6 AM. The transition for me, therefore, was spent in bed.

Not a bad thing, if I dare say so.

For the next few weeks, everyone’s bound to discuss their New Year’s Resolutions. Personally, I’ve decided not to go with any clear-cut resolutions.

My goal for 2016 is to be happy.

While 2015 was in no means a bad year and there were several highlights (I joined a writer’s group, spent a weekend at the ocean, went to San Japan, went to Pax Prime for the first time), parts of the year dragged on and came with some challenges. I don’t regret 2015 and by no means will I disregard it, but my goal for the coming year is to make it better.

Happiness.

Naturally, I hope each and every one of you has a fantastic 2016.

Let’s make this the greatest year yet!

First Draft – Done!

I’m not going to beat around the bush. The first draft of Kaine & Vera’s book… is done.

The book ended with a total of 66,723 words, which is on the short side, but in editing I’ll be adding two brand new chapters and will be fleshing some things out. I expect to get it close to 80,000 after editing.

For now, though, after staying up until 3 AM last night to finish the final chapter (which involved writing 4,313 words last night), then writing the epilogue today… I am done. It’s time to crash and rest.

Wednesday begins the adventure of my next book.

Final stages…

Things have been overwhelming lately.

So much has been going on and now I’m approaching the end of the first draft of Kaine and Vera’s book. All that’s left is the final scene plus an epilogue. The end is nigh and if all goes well, it could be done by the end of the week.

And after that, I’ll be participating in Camp NaNoWriMo during which I’ll be starting a new book. While I write the next book, I’ll let Kaine and Vera’s book rest so I can tackle editing with a fresh perspective on it later.

Just a few more days and this book should be done!

I’ll definitely advise you when I reach the end. 😉

Still Alive!

Don’t worry, I’m still alive.

Slowly working my way back into things. I’m getting back into writing after working all of Labor Day weekend, the day itself included. Goal – finish book #1 of Kaine and Vera’s story by the end of September. Expect a longer post later this week telling about my busy summer. 🙂

Back to blogging! Why I’ve been gone.

My last post was on April 19th. Yikes!

Let’s dust off these cobwebs, shall we?

It has been a long couple of months for me. Ever since that last blog post in April, I’ve been going, going, and going, and haven’t had much time to stop. On May 1st, I moved out of my parents’ house, and from Germany back to the United States, where I was born. I’m now sitting happily in Washington state, back home, surrounded by family I hadn’t seen in almost eight years.

The moment I got here, I had to get a job and get all my affairs sorted, which luckily didn’t take too long. Between that and catching up with family, I haven’t had much time to do anything.

On June 3rd, my grandmother passed away. She was seventy-six years old and in the best health she had been in for years. Her death was unexpected and a hard blow for my family. We spent weeks dealing with the service and everything else that we needed to do, and I couldn’t focus much on anything else during that time.

I got to pet, and play with, Mimi, a 9-week-old baby tiger! That was an amazing experience.

Things calmed down for about a week once July came around, but then I flew to Dallas with two aunts and two cousins on the 11th, and we spent twelve days in Texas and Oklahoma on vacation. We just got back from that yesterday afternoon.

Now, it’s time to get my stuff back in order. I want to slowly ease myself back into my usual routine. I need to start writing again, and my plan is to write three chapters per week to begin with. For now, I can’t guarantee three blog posts every week, but I will do my best to post at least once every week (Wednesdays), and if I have more time, on Sundays as well. Depending on my schedule each week, there may be Friday posts.

I’ll write more detailed blog posts about things I did on vacation and my move back to the US in the near future. For now, I just wanted to get this summary post written, and kick-start my blogging schedule.

Thank you to everyone who has been patiently waiting for me to return. More posts coming soon!

How’ve you all been?
